Guanajuato an old colonial city of Mexico, which is located not far from Mexico City (350 km), in the valleyThis city attracts attention because painted in bright, multi-colored paint.
Guanajuato was founded by Antonio de Mendoza in 1546. The backbone of the economy was silver. After opening these silver mines, city started to prosper. It was the richest city in the country and even became its capital. In 1988, Guanajuato was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
One of the most interesting places is the Museum of Mummies of Guanajuato, which contains 111 mummies, most of them women.
